We work very closely with many community initiatives. Our role as a community support means we are involved where we need to be.
During the pandemic , Winslow families suffered greatly. Livelihoods disappeared overnight and many encountered massive financial difficulties. The food cupboard was ramped up to support these familes.
We urgently need to raise in the region of £20,000 to repair the North Aisle Roof, where damage to the lead on the roof has resulted in leaking which is only going to get worse.
Through some sterling work by Charles Gardner we have secured some grant funding, but we need to raise this final £15,000 this year or we will lose the grants. We will shortly be announcing an appeal where we will be asking for interest-free loans, which will be repaid in five years if the donor wishes. More details to follow!
With the pandemic shutting down my new business and not being eligible for financial support, I was having to sell my possessions to pay for food. The Winslow Food Cupboard provided vital support for me and me and my family could eat.
Winslow Food Cupboard
The Food Cupboard was set up four years ago in response to need in the local community. The numbers in need at that time were quite small. However, this has increased dramatically since lockdowns.
We support households in Winslow and the surrounding villages. The community of Winslow has been amazing in its food donations and also financial support.
The organiser is Jo Anderson who has been awarded the British Empire Medal for her work with the Food Cupboard. Read more here
