Chairman’s Report 26th September 2016
Just like last year I intend to keep this report very short, because we all want to make our pizzas and eat them!
First of all I would like to share Andrew our Vicar’s apologies because he is not able to join us tonight. However it is good to welcome all our new members and some parents. Most importantly I would like to thank all our committed voluntary helpers, because without them this Youth Club could not continue. So let’s give a round of applause for Liz, Livvy, Kim, John and Amy. Sadly Jake has had to leave us due to his College Course in Amersham, but we hope he will be back at Christmas to organise our usual disco.
Lots of good things have happened in this past year……we have achieved so much and enjoyed ourselves too. Our Afternoon at the Ritz was an amazing success with us taking £882; half of which we donated to the National Autistic Society. Then we had our Musical afternoon with the Silver Band which made £556, allowing us to donate half to the NSPCC. I am really pleased to tell you that I have managed to secure £900 from Bucks cc , which we have to spend on an event for the village and make our usual charity donation…….Evie and Hannah are already thinking about what they could sing accompanied by the Silver Band. So come on all of you talented people, start planning what you could do e.g. sing, dance, play an instrument or act as waiters or waitresses. The date for this event is Saturday 11th February. Also, if you have a favourite charity please let me know. We also ran stalls at the Village School and at the Church Fete and again shared our takings equally between them and the Youth Club.
What else have we enjoyed? There has been Sumo wrestling, a trip to M.K. Bowls and to the Winslow Bowls club; plus we celebrated Chinese New Year with a takeaway and American Independence Day with fried chicken and chips. Much of the cost of these events has been covered by our fund raising events. We’ve played toilet brush hockey, snooker, table tennis, magnetic darts and enjoyed a Light Party etc. etc.
But, and most importantly, we must listen to your views ….what do you want to do? What do you think about Youth Club? So I have been asking for 1 or 2 members to join our committee. Volunteers Please! Also, and I am really proud to let you know that Hannah, Georgie, Katie and Theo have volunteered to become Young Leaders and so I will be putting their names forward and fingers crossed they will all get on the course, which I know they will enjoy.
Finally if anybody knows of anybody who could volunteer to work with us at the Youth Club, that would be great.
Over to John now for a very quick financial update and then let’s get pizza making!
